What not to eat while taking Zepbound?

It is recommended to consume adequate protein to minimize loss of lean muscle in combination with physical activity (especially resistance training). The type of protein you eat might include lean animal protein, seafood, dairy, along with plant-based options such as soy, whole grains, and beans depending on your dietary preferences. As Zepbound can cause constipation, it can be helpful to increase your fiber intake through fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains. Additionally, Zepbound commonly causes heartburn so avoiding fatty/greasy foods, spicy foods, and other triggers of reflux is advised. Another way Zepbound helps you lose weight is by slowing down digestion so food stays in your stomach longer and you feel fuller. When taking this medication, try serving yourself half of your normal portion and wait 10 to 15 minutes afterwards to see if you are still hungry for more. Patients who eat quickly and consume the same volume as before taking the medication may find they feel overly full and sick.

How much weight can I lose on Zepbound in 2 months?

After four weeks, the average weight loss is around 2% of body weight; after eight weeks, it’s over 4%. Zepbound (tirzepatide) reduces appetite and hunger, helping you eat fewer calories; this effect is almost immediate.

The higher doses of Zepbound (10mg & 15mg) are more effective for weight loss and blood sugar than Wegovy, based on an indirect analysis of individual studies.

Zepbound supports an average weight loss of around 25% after one year, whereas on Wegovy, it’s around 16%.

However, no studies have compared the two medications directly against one another in a double-blinded randomised controlled trial (where neither the researchers nor the participants know which medication they’ve been given).

Does Zepbound slow digestion?

Since Zepbound slows digestion and prolongs the time food stays in your stomach, you may feel full for longer. However, if you eat past fullness, you risk experiencing nausea and vomiting. It’s, therefore, important to eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of larger ones and stop eating once satisfied.

It’s also important to avoid foods that may worsen the nausea and vomiting effects of Zepbound. Spicy foods and foods high in fat are known to exacerbate nausea and vomiting. While this may vary with people, it’s essential to be alert to foods that trigger these effects individually and develop meal ideas that prevent these triggers.

2. Diarrhea. Like nausea and vomiting, diarrhea is common when starting with the medication or after a dose increase. However, as your body adjusts to the treatment, it may decrease.

5 Natural Remedies for Constipation While on TirzepatideDrink more water. Staying hydrated is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to combat constipation. … Increase your fiber intake. Fiber is crucial for healthy digestion. … Get moving. … Improve your toilet habits. … Try natural laxatives.

Constipation can be a frustrating side effect of taking tirzepatide, a medication known for its effectiveness in managing Type 2 diabetes and aiding weight loss. Tirzepatide, marketed under brand names like Mounjaro and Zepbound, is a weekly injectable medication that helps regulate blood sugar levels and suppress appetite by slowing down how fast your stomach empties. This can inadvertently lead to constipation by reducing fluid intake and slowing gut movement.

Constipation can be an uncomfortable and disheartening side effect, but don’t worry. There are natural remedies to help alleviate this issue, allowing you to continue benefiting from tirzepatide without the discomfort of constipation. At Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, we understand the importance of comprehensive care and offer strategies to help alleviate the symptoms of tirzepatide while maximizing the desired results: weight loss. Here are five natural remedies to help you find relief from constipation while on tirzepatide.

1. Drink more water. Staying hydrated is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to combat constipation. When you’re on tirzepatide, you might find yourself drinking less fluid throughout the day due to a decreased appetite. This can lead to drier stools and less frequent bowel movements. Aim to drink between 2. 7 to 3. 7 liters of water daily. Carry a water bottle with you to keep track of your intake and set reminders if necessary. Proper hydration helps keep your stool soft and easier to pass, reducing the likelihood of constipation.

2. Fatty foods. Multiple studies have linked fatty foods to having an upset stomach. Specifically, the more fat you add to a meal, the more likely you are to experience symptoms like bloating, nausea, and indigestion. Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Zepbound, also recommends avoiding fatty foods in order to relieve nausea when taking Zepbound.

Like fried foods, regularly eating fatty foods is associated with weight gain, as well as overeating. So, opting for lower-fat options instead may help you enjoy more success losing weight on Zepbound. Even small changes can make a difference. For example, consider using an air fryer or the oven rather than a frying pan for making things like french fries at home so you can skip the grease.

3. Sugary sweets and treats. The relationship between sugar and weight gain is fairly straightforward: the more high-sugar foods you eat, the more likely you are to gain weight or overeat — two outcomes you probably want to avoid when taking Zepbound. Beyond that, consuming sugary foods can spike your blood sugar and, subsequently, your insulin levels. The elevated insulin eventually causes your blood sugar levels to drop quickly leaving you hungrier than before, spurring a cycle of snacking.

  • i tried to get Zepbound from Sequence but my insurance denied it, list price maybe $1050 but retailers have it listed from $1250-1400. Even with the savings card which is max of 500-550 if your commercial incsurance denies it you would get it for like 700-1000. I don’t mind paying 2-300 maybe 400 max. But 700-1400 is a big NO!

  • She got absolutely everything right except the very last thing she said. 😬 That said, Eli Lilly is currently testing higher dosages (currently in Phase 2 clinical trials I think). But there’s no guarantee that higher dosages will make it through said clinical trials and make it to market… if the side effects are too bad, say, then they won’t get approved.
