Does Kratom Cause Diarrhea And Gastrointestinal Distress?

3.5 rating based on 163 ratings

Kratom, a complex plant with over 15 active alkaloids and numerous supportive compounds, can cause digestive problems such as abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, and diarrhea. Consuming too much kratom can lead to stomach upset and diarrhea, but with experimentation and the right dosage, it can be managed. Some users prefer to take an antacid or an antiemetic OTC drug to control the gastrointestinal upset associated with kratom use. Antacids neutralize stomach acidity, while antiemetics mitigate nausea and vomiting.

Kratom can cause diarrhea when taken in high doses or for too long. Users have reported experiencing diarrhea after taking bigger doses of kratom compared to smaller doses. However, despite its potential to cause gastrointestinal upset in some individuals, Kratom is also used by others to manage symptoms.

Some individuals may experience diarrhea as a side effect of using kratom, especially at higher doses. It is crucial to monitor dosage and consult a doctor if you experience any serious side effects. Large doses of kratom can cause weight loss, dry mouth, nausea and vomiting, constipation, liver damage, muscle pain, and high blood pressure.

Long-term use of kratom can result in uncomfortable withdrawals, including aches, pains, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, aggression, and other adverse reactions. Symptoms of Salmonella may include headache, muscle aches, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, chills, fever, nausea, and dehydration.

In conclusion, consuming kratom can cause various digestive problems, including diarrhea, constipation, and stomach pain. It is essential to monitor dosage, consult a doctor, and avoid using kratom to manage symptoms and maintain overall health.

📹 What You Should Know Before Taking Kratom

Should this supplement be regulated? Or taken off the market? The Doctors discuss what you should know before taking Kratom.

Is kratom like kava?

Differences Between Kava and Kratom. Despite some similarities, kratom and kava are quite different. They come from entirely different plant families, and they act in different ways to produce their effects. Those weighing the benefits of kratom vs. kava should also consider the differences in how these supplements are used. Kratom is more widely used as a stimulant or for pain, and kava is more commonly used for anxiety, stress, and insomnia.

Effects. Kratom strains and effects are closely linked. For example, the Bali strain produces opioid-like euphoria. The Maeng Da strain acts more like a pain killer and stimulant. The dose also matters. In small doses, kratom produces some of the same stimulating effects as coffee. In larger doses, the effects are more sedating and are similar to those produced by opioid painkillers. Kratom is also known for its mood-enhancing properties. At very high dosages, kratom produces effects such as:

  • Feelings of intoxication
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Nausea

Can kratom make you have diarrhea?

Kratom works as a sedative and stimulant. It has been used traditionally for managing sleep problems, anxiety, depression, pain, and more. However, the FDA hasn’t approved it for any of these uses. Though it’s unlikely to cause serious side effects when taken in small to moderate amounts, it’s best not to consider taking it regularly or as a remedy for any condition. See a doctor if you think you can’t function without it, or start having withdrawal symptoms such as hostility, nausea, vomiting, chills, and diarrhea after regular kratom use.

Kratom was first noted in scientific literature in the year 1836.

There haven’t been any cases of kratom causing yeast infection.

What are the cardiovascular effects of kratom?

What are the cardiovascular effects of kratom?

Thus, we cannot offer a definitive conclusion about kratom’s cardiotoxicity due to the lack of data and methodological limitations reported in existing studies. Nonetheless, our review offers two notable contributions to the literature. First, kratom’s most common adverse cardiovascular effects include tachycardia and hypertension. And second, kratom use may affect the cardiac rhythm in a dose-dependent manner. Therefore, a kratom overdose or the concurrent use of kratom with other illicit substances or medications that affect the cardiac rhythm (e. g., antiarrhythmics, antipsychotics, calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers, and antidepressants) may lead to cardiac arrhythmia. Moreover, the psychoactive alkaloids in kratom’s chemical profile remain poorly understood. Therefore, the question of whether kratom use can cause a cardiotoxicity risk merits further investigation.

What does liver pain feel like?

So what does liver pain feel like? It manifests in different ways, but a common form is a dull throbbing. For some people, it occurs as a sharp, stabbing pain. Sometimes the pain migrates to other nearby areas, such as the right shoulder blade and the back.

2. SWELLING IN THE BODY. For some people, abdominal swelling accompanies abdominal pain. In other cases, the legs and ankles swell instead. This tends to result from the body retaining water in the abdomen or legs. In these cases, the spleen is also enlarged. Swelling almost always accompanies liver pain. Note that when you begin to have physical symptoms of liver disease, it may mean it has progressed to the later stage, known as decompensated cirrhosis.

An important fact to keep in mind is that swelling can result from other diseases. It is also not impossible to suffer from more than one. Consequently, a good doctor rules out other possibilities before determining liver disease as the sole cause. Here are some other potential causes:

What are the physiological effects of kratom?

Kratom is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. Consumption of its leaves produces both stimulant effects (in low doses) and sedative effects (in high doses), and can lead to psychotic symptoms, and psychological and physiological dependence.

What are the symptoms of hepatotoxicity?

What are the symptoms of hepatotoxicity?

  • Hepatotoxicity refers to liver damage caused by a medicine, chemical, or supplement.
  • Symptoms of hepatotoxicity can include rash, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dark-colored urine, diarrhea, light-colored stools, jaundice, itching, loss of appetite, and fever.
  • Hepatotoxicity is a potentially serious side effect of some HIV medicines.
  • HIV medicines that are causing serious hepatotoxicity must be stopped immediately, but only with the approval of your health care provider.

Hepatotoxicity is the medical term for liver damage caused by a medicine (prescription or over-the-counter), chemical, or supplement (herbal or dietary). Hepatotoxicity, also called toxic liver disease or toxic hepatitis, can be a side effect of some HIV medicines.

Use the Clinicalinfo Drug Database to find information about a specific HIV medicine, including information about its potential side effects. If untreated, hepatotoxicity can cause short-term liver damage (cirrhosis) or even long-term liver failure. People with an increased risk of hepatotoxicity should be aware of the symptoms of this condition.

What are signs that your pancreas is not working properly?

Chronic pancreatitis. The most common symptom of chronic pancreatitis is long-standing pain in the middle of your abdomen. If you have chronic pancreatitis, you might get repeated episodes of acute pancreatitis, where your pain gets worse. Your pain may get worse with eating, drinking and drinking alcohol. You may also develop jaundice.

If you have chronic pancreatitis, you can have trouble digesting food, particularly fats, because of your lack of digestive juices. This can lead to vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and other symptoms including:

  • I’ve been addicted to Xanax and opiates on separate occasions.. I’m glad to say I’ve got into fitness and I’m sober now for like 2 years and Kratom and weed have helped me fight cravings and stay off harder drugs and helped me get my life back on track.. it may sound far fetched to some but to others you will understand

  • I use it often. Have so for over a decade. And I’m a practicing physician in a thriving clinic. The dangers associated with kratom are primarily limited to its addictive nature. Anyone claiming an overdose death due to Kratom is pushing propaganda and conveniently failing to mention the loads of benzos and fentanyl also found on the toxicology report. The opioid receptor agonistic action associated with kratom is metabolized through a different pathway (protein G) that does NOT cause respiratory depression…..respiratory depression being the cause responsible for the vast majority of traditional opioid-related deaths.

  • I was in a house fire %80 full thickness burns and was hospitalized for 7 months. That was fentynl everyday for half a year so I was physically dependent to a death sentence and when I got home kratom was a miracle for my withdrawal symptoms and took care of the pain better than the few oxycodone they sent me home with.

  • I have taken Kratom for years and have not had any issues. That does not mean that it has not to others. I am a grown adult and I like the ability to choose for myself what helps me. I do not need Government telling me what I can and cannot take. Kratom has helped me immensly and I never exceed the dosage I take. I have never felt like increasing the dosage like I did with Vicodin. My life is better because of Kratom.

  • I have been using Kratom for over 2 years now! It has helped me with my chronic pain tremendously!!!!! Prior to taking Kratom, I was a chronic pain patient for 16 years. I had to get my prescriptions refills every 30 days for 16 years!! Kratom has helped me and I haven’t needed prescription pain medications in 2 years. It is an answer to prayer!!!

  • I have extreme pain with arthritis and associated pain. I tried Kratom Red Vein Bali last night for the first time. I took 1/8 of a teaspoon and then this morning 1/4 of a teaspoon. My pain levels, depression and overall feelings of anxiety have subsided to the point that I am walking and virtually pain free. Now this is temporary, I get that. But as a tax paying citizen and a member of the Senior Citizen club….I am sick to death of being told what i can and cannot take to help my pain levels. I am treated like a drug addicted kid when I go to the doctors office to ask for a crappy Tylenol Three. I have to see the doctor every three months to renew a 30 day prescription and blood tests to make certain that i am not taking more of anything. GO CURE CANCER OR PARKINSON OR SOME OTHER disease. What in the hell do these doctors and pharmacy CEO’s care?

  • Great supplement for addiction clearly, when taken properly. But, be VERY, VERY, VERY careful how far you go especially if you are not experienced in how dangerous addiction can be. Kratom is in fact very addictive if used incorrectly, and can have some pretty insane side effects, especially when abusing the liquid extracts. Key word, abuse. I used every day for 2 years, i was so confident in its safety and little side effects, i became unaware of how often or how much i was taking. it became second nature. Then it turned into $20 a day on an extract in the morning, followed by 8-10 spoon fulls after lunch up until bed time, sometimes more. the level of psychological damage the abuse has caused me is relatively extreme, although it is bearable once through the withdrawals. that being said, the withdrawals from this substance are far easier to deal with than other pain and anxiety medications, which is why it is proffered amongst the community. i do believe this is a miracle supplement, when taken correctly. But, moderation should not be left in the hands of an addict. Keep this in mind, if you don’t NEED it, don’t start it

  • Been using it for back pain, anxiety, and energy for almost 7 years. No side effects. Plenty of people in the community can point you in the right direction for recommended doses especially for those just starting out. These doctors are clearly protecting their income flow and nothing more. Wouldn’t let the woman speak for 10 seconds uninterrupted.

  • I’m a former Marine combat veteran and 100% P&T disabled (in other words, medically retired in my 30s). Shattered my right elbow while on active duty, and over the course of 18 years I’ve had nine surgeries. Was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome early 2021 (nicknamed “the suicide disease” for good reason). In layman’s terms, it’s a neurological disorder; the nerves in my right arm constantly send pain signals to my brain, which in turn overwhelms my central nervous system, causing myriad secondary conditions. I’ve been taking kratom for nearly six years, and while it has been helpful for pain management, it has also wreaked havoc on my GI system and aged my face considerably. Even worse, it changed my personality and made me much more argumentative and constantly on edge. For these reasons, I decided to stop cold turkey and am on day six. While the withdrawals have not been fun, my face is already looking better, my GI issues are improving greatly, and cognitively I just feel better. That being said, I’m still an advocate for kratom and realize how helpful it is to so many people. Just because I’ve had a negative experience from it doesn’t mean I don’t recognize the benefits. I’m not sure what I’ll do for pain management, but in the meantime I seem to be doing okay.

  • Initially, my son told me that he had developed an addiction to serious prescription opiods for pain. He tried Kratom. Not only did he have help with detox, it has managed his pain for YEARS. I need double knee replacements, and am a liver patient. They literally throw opiods at me, which I really don’t want to go down an addiction path again. I tried kratom – it is incredible. I have had zero side effects, the pain is tolerable, I have much better sleep (not waking up every hour in pain) and you can’t OD on it. How is this a bad thing? I will tell you….because Big Pharma isn’t making a buck off of it.

  • Kratom has saved my life. Helps my anxiety and my depression, and makes my arthritis bearable. I’ve tried so many other things including prescription medication. Kratom should NOT be taken off the market, however, people who want to try it need to do the sensible thing and spend time doing research on it.

  • Kratom helps me with sleep, stress, anxiety, and pain. I’ve been taking it for 6 years, all my tests have come back perfect, I’m healthy. I take it at night to help me relax, unwind, and play article games for a bit. Then I can lay down, put on some music on my phone, and go to sleep. It’s that or I lay down and cry myself to sleep… I’m raising three children alone. Kratom helps me get the rest I need to be the best mom I can be.

  • What “The Doctors” show has cut out is probably the best part of this whole segment. You have two people who shared their testimony about how Kratom has positively helped their lives. Kratom HAS helped many people with their addiction and depression. The fact that you can’t say “it helped me” on a medical level is bogus. Tylenol killed 150 people last year and you don’t hear anyone shouting regulation with that. Simply because they’re already making money from it. This is why they’re talking about regulating Kratom – MONEY.

  • 5 years ago I was in jail for problems related to my alcohol and drug addiction. Today I have been clean from alcohol and heroin and the business I started last year is going great. Kratom has played a huge role on helping make lifestyle changes and lead a sane, healthy, and productive life. The interest big Pharma has in shutting down kratom is self evident and has been pointed out in these comments. The reason the “Intervention” guy is on the panel is because the addictions treatment industry stands to have their ineffective treatment models challenged. 12 step and complete abstinence work for some people and should be a choice. But if saving lives and helping addicts is REALLY the most important part of treating addictions then the opposition to alternative treatment models is at best misguided and at worst absolutely criminal . It makes me sick perusal the hypocrisy of established institutions put their machine into action whenever their knowledge, money, or power is at stake . When the message from individual addicts is “This works and it literally saved my life”, their answer is “WE DON’T CARE”

  • I have serious pain with arthritis, both pSA and Ra. The VA cut us off of all pain meds unless you are terminal. This Kratom helps along with Tumeric. Some days I can’t hardly walk if the humidity is going up, rain is coming in, or winter time. I moved from Kansas to AZ just to get the weather relief, so yes, I need relief.

  • Kratom has been in my life for 8 years now! I use it every fee days, usually never any days in a row, and to help people understand what I mean I now call it “microdosing”, because folks understand that these days. What’s special about me (not really) is that I don’t have severe issues, but I do have some moderate or mild autoimmune problems that it helps with. It’s also amazing for period cramps, injuries, or just generally feeling good! You don’t need to be coming off opiates to enjoy kratom (although I’m not at all dismissing the impact kratom has for that). You don’t need to be in severe pain either (again, not dismissing), you can just be a more regular person who enjoys it. Take breaks and don’t make it a big deal, try to keep your dose low. It’s a health booster 🙂

  • I’ve used kratom since I was 14 I’m 26 now, had no serious health issues and never had a bad experience with it. It has helped me through many tough times as well as gave me the motivation to get in shape. I use it mainly for focus because I have adhd and it helps tremendously. I hate pharmaceutical drugs and the way they make me feel not to mention the damage they do to your liver.

  • From my experience, it doesn’t take long to build up a tolerance and snag some really bad withdrawals. I have difficulty understanding how people use it daily but I can see it being good if used in conjunction with other methods. Say 2- 3x a week using kratom and 4x a week delta 8 to manage a chronic condition. I don’t think the issue is black or white. And I think it can be really helpful. But it can get out of hand quickly if not (somewhat) closely monitored. And of course, depends on medication interactions and your own personal biology so experiment but do so with caution. If you feel even a twinge of the next day weirdness – ease up. Its not worth that restless legs/arms + extreme insomnia + breathing issues + unique version of depression (and I struggle with really bad chronic depression/anxiety…this was its own unique form of torment).

  • I got hooked on kratom and started taking 2-5 doses a day to help me deal with anxiety and get through work shifts for about 6-8 months straight, and let me tell you the withdrawals were MISERABLE. I became super depressed, full of anxiety no appetite couldn’t sleep and the worst was the restless leg syndrome. This being said I think kratom is amazing and very beneficial if used in moderation and under the right circumstances!! Do your research and find out what works best for you! If you have an impulsive or addictive personality then kratom can cause problems… if you have self discipline then Kratom can be very beneficial 🙂 love yall

  • I’m a former opiate addict. I decided to try Kratom and I liked that it had an initial endorphin “rush” that quickly dissipated into mild calming effect. In meeting other Kratom users I met many who were using a quarter ounce or more at a time to get really high on it. I was ridiculed for my 3 small scoops. Now I’ve built up a resistance to it. I would like a Kratom product with a lab certified amount of the active ingredient.

  • Fabricant: “supplements aren’t supposed to do anything”. Wow for someone who runs the NPA that is a deplorable statement. I think the American people need to ban together and form the first NATURAL PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY. There is a black hole for any traditional medicine in this country and I’m sick of it. This shit REALLY WORKS AND WORKS TO WELL FOR THEIR LIKING THATS THE PROBLEM!!!!!

  • you cannot patent a plant and this is the big issue for regulation . i take kratom for pain and i was on oxycodone and morphine prior . kratom works and has far less side effects then opiods . you cannot get wasted on Kratom and if you do too much then you just feel nauseous and you wont ever take that much again . think of it like coffee . no one ever told you how much coffee you have to use but you know what will happen if you drink too much …… same shit but this works for pain

  • I tried to quit drinking for years.. On top of having anxiety and panic attacks. The with draws I had the first time quiting was absolutely terrible. Now the 2nd go round.. I was told by a very experienced nurse to take kratom and when I tried it.. I was able to quit drinking cold turkey with NO side effects! Just shows how the world we live in puts money first rather than the health of our people.

  • He speaks of credibility and regards the claim that Kratom is a supplement as laughable. I do agree that Kratom is a supplement in perhaps non-legal and non-scientific conversations alone, however, it is psychoactive and most certainly a drug. But that is mostly irrelevant; there are many drugs which are legal and can be bought over the counter, and many of them have been proven to cause substantial harm to individuals and to society. I shouldn’t have to make that list for you. Credibility and laughability? Let’s have a discussion about the federal agencies which are tasked with the regulation of drugs. Should Kratom be studied more extensively? As a user, I say absolutely. Should it be regulated? Of course. But the DEA, which derives its legitimacy and authority by law and certainly not by competence, has no goddamn business getting their filthy, greedy tendrils around something with such potential for benefits anywhere near Kratom. What exactly were the plans to regulate Kratom? List it as a Schedule I narcotic. What does Schedule I indicate? No medical benefits and strict penalties for use and possession. Such a proposal is utterly ridiculous, and demonstrates the obvious fact that they either have no idea what they’re doing, or that they have an agenda to criminalize anything that could be counterproductive to profits and incarceration rates.

  • I’ve been an addict for over 20 years and on suboxone for the last 3 years..I’ve tried methadone before also trying to get off opioids…Nothing worked until I found kratom, I was able to stop taking suboxone cold turkey with absolutely no withdraws at all over 6 months ago…Kratom is a cousin to the coffee plant so why is the FDA trying to class it as an opioid? Opioids come from poppies, the very poppies that our government is so worried about guarding so that big pharma can keep poisoning people with their synthetic drugs …I am an adult and if I choose to treat myself without the FDA or big pharma it should be up to me.

  • 3 Years ago, Beaufort Kratom changed my life. It’s not just for people coming off of opioids, its for people who never want to get on them in the first place too. I had the choice to be put on prescription opiates or be in pain the rest of my life. Having known many people take opiates and then have to switch to heroin…. I made my own choice and tried kratom instead. Haven’t looked back since 🙂

  • I’ve used it for my anxiety, and I think it worked pretty well. My recommendation: Start small, like a small spoonful, and give it enough time to process in your body, at least 30 minutes or so. You can always have more later if that wasn’t enough. Also, my other recommendation is to use it in a well air conditioned environment. 🥵 If you need to throw it up, do it. There’s no point in holding it in if you’ve had too much and are now sick.

  • Why can’t Susan ever get her word in. The guy in the middle cut her off mid sentence and the FDA guy cut her off in another snippet. Seems like the opponents are riding their high horse because they have “authority”. This was one sided. You as the moderator should have stopped this interruption. This isn’t Jerry Springer. It’s not a yelling match. Everyone should have been able to speak and rebuttal, not cut someone off mid sentence.

  • As one who’s done every drug in the book I can firmly tell you that Kratom is in the MINOR category. Withdrawal symptoms are very weak compared to something like heroine or xanax or vicodin. Dosage isn’t dangerous because the potency of the pills are about .1-.5x (depending on potency) that of a 10mg vicodin per pill. Also since they are not loaded up with acetaminophen the damage to the liver is reduced significantly. Your body simply absorbs plant based substances better than lab grade analogues of morphine/opium. I always keep atleast 4-6 kratom pills in my pocket in case of emergency (i never use them, last time I took one was about 6 months ago). These people wanna control you, your body and your wallet. Screw them, they are evil manipulators acting like they are your daddy while they bend you over the desk and dictate what you can and cannot have. Meanwhile they fly all this stuff in from Afghanistan (where do you think they get the chems from?).

  • Why is the guy from intervention sitting with those guys! This plant has saved more lives than his show. Isn’t saving even one life worth it? An intervention, rehab, and meeting don’t work for everyone! If it did people wouldn’t relapse and die. If he is against making kratom illegal then shame on him!

  • I’ve been taking 12 grams s day now going on three years. Keatom saved my life and my marriage! I was a terrible alcoholic, I would drink vodca every week and go in blackouts. It made me so sick. Since I’ve been taking Keatom I’m not sick anymore. I don’t drink anymore, I get up everyday not sick from alcohol and hangovers! It has litterly saved my life!

  • One of the biggest concerns for pharmaceutical companies and people in the medical profession is that if Kratom actually helps with pain relief then they won’t be able to get as many people addicted to opioids and then lead them down a road of lifetime visits to the Methadone clinic. Or lifetime prescriptions for Suboxen.

  • I’m back to say I’m off Kratom but also off all meds completely and would like to give some thanks and reckonition to Kratom it helped me through all my pain,I could tell it was working well in low doses I was only taking a less than one gram per day in capsules and I’m here I’m healthy I’m off all my meds so I’m living proof that it works…

  • I just found out about Kratom yesterday online. I have chronic headaches. When I say chronic, I mean nearly 24/7. My MRI’s clearly show the reasons for my pain. I can’t make that up. I also have severe back pain. I am so tired of going to doctors appointments and running in circles. I get no help with pain relief. I have SEVERE depression from living in this much pain. I plan on trying this. I pray that it helps. I also pray that it doesn’t become illegal and only available by prescription. I am so tired of Doctors not helping me. I have never been addicted to anything or even misused any medications. I haven’t ever smoked anything or even had any alcohol or even coffee for that matter. I just need a slight relief of pain, at least once in a while. Why can’t I get a pain med prescription and yet the people that are addicted or doing it for fun still are able to still get it on the street. It is ridiculous and so very frustrating.

  • 2023, Six years later… Most studies show great benefits of correct kratom usage after all. As for my chronic pain relief by adding kratom alongside my other pain pills I was able to cut down from taking my prescribed pain pills amount by half. With little online research, I was able to find the correct dosage to take based on what I needed.

  • Kratom took away my severe narcotic medication withdrawals (restless leg syndrome, depression, anxiety, despair, hot and cold flashes, sleeplessness, etc) for 2-3 hours per dose. I would take up to 15 capsules at a time during the worse times. I have never had Kratom withdrawal. I can attest that Kratom was a lifesaver for me! It has never made me high, only feeling “normal”. I always used Red Vein Bali.

  • Oh the importance of regulation! Mom sends junior to the store to pick up a few items including coffee. No one bats an eye even though coffee can potentially put you in the ER if you drink enough of it. I think that this argument could be resolved very simply just by having a panel of ER doctors discuss which drug overdoses are most prevalent in their work and how does kratom rank. How sad the state of our nation is when the president elect is a fast food junkie and our government is trying to ban an ancient plant that does nothing but relieve suffering and save lives.

  • I was addicted to opiates for years, and then heroin for two years straight. After my friends started dying left and right, I weaned myself off with lesser opiates. Towards the end started taking Kratom and haven’t taken opiates since. The only reason they want to make Kratom illegal is because it is, and will continue to help people get off of opiates. Opiates make a lot of people a shitload of money. With Kratom being as effective as it is with opiate addiction, it has become a problem for everyone that makes money from prescription opiates/opioids. Kratom being made illegal shouldn’t even be a discussion. It is saving people’s lives. It saved mine, and I wish it had been legal/available in Tennessee back when I lived there and was addicted to heroin. I would have a drastically smaller number of dead friends. –

  • I am 34 years old and just try to for the first time because I’ve been visiting Florida for a few weeks and I was driving around and noticed they had these kava bars so I checked out a few. While doing so they each had drinks made with Kratom as well. So I tried this seltzer type drink they had. I got a euphoric feeling definitely a more creative mind. I would say it energize me. Plus I am very knowledgeable about many different herbs. I’ve been studying herbalism for several years and I have a apothecary. However I didn’t know anything about Kratom. Last night unfortunately I drank just a little bit of what I had left of that drink around 10 PM at night and I was wired all night and couldn’t sleep till about maybe 5 AM and I feel like shit today. I felt super hyper alert. I also ate some dark chocolate last night so that could’ve added to it as dark chocolate is known to have caffeine. I really smoke marijuana anymore because it also gives me insomnia. I enjoy the creativity it creates and helps to open my mind however not sleeping at all it’s usually not worth it. I had a feeling that it had some type of stimulant affect because it is a leaf therefore almost similar to a Tea. The bar that I went to also had several different colors such as red yellow or green and one was said to be more energizing and uplifting and the other was to be more relaxing which was the red color which is what I tried. I think that is possibly misleading or incorrect because just like marijuana whether it’s sativa or Indica despite the purported different affects of relaxation or mind stimulation it is still the same substance.

  • I know someone that started taking kratom to get off opioids. It worked great in the beginning, but it’s a bandaid. He didn’t get any help for the addiction on a mental, physical, emotional level. He started taking 6g of kratom per day in 2020, now he’s taking between 90-100g per day. That’s roughly 50+ capsules he takes per day. For the last year he’s told me that “he’s taking it for pain.” But just recently he admitted that he’s taking it for the euphoric feelings. I’m grateful that he’s not on pain pills anymore, but I definitely think kratom needs regulations/supplement facts on the package. He uses the fact that there is no recommended dosage and bc it’s natural that it’s ok to take the quantity he’s taking. 🙄 As for this article, you big pharma guys are so full of yourself and in just as much denial. Y’all know how addictive pain pills are and yet doctors and pharmacist are approving large quantities to people after surgery. Regardless of the persons mental stability or health history. I met a 23 y.o lady the other day that broke her ankle and in 2 weeks her doctor fill a hydrocodone prescription of 40 pills twice in the 3 weeks she left the hospital. Why… Because they don’t care to question her or do a drug test to make sure she’s not abusing them. I broke my ankle in 2016 and my doctor gave me 40 count prescription for hydrocodone too. But I only took two pills out of the whole thing. Turns out that friend I mentioned earlier was casually taking them back then when he came over.

  • I have sever fibromyalgia it’s just gotten worse over the years to the point I can Hardly walk on really bad days Kratom has changed my Life I was taking so much Tylenol IBP prescription drugs and I have not getting addicted to this one and it helps me function Does it help 100% no nothing will but it’s safer natural compared to all the harsh ingredients found in pain pills

  • I used kratom for 2 years and all I can say is it is incredibly addicting and the longer you use it the more you need it and want it. It’s also pretty expensive. I finally decided enough was enough and let me tell you I’m an alcoholic and was an opiate addict I’ve been sober from that for 8 years. When I decided to kick kratom it was literally hell for least two weeks I’ve never felt so horrible in my entire life. Definitely not worth taking that stuff unless you are going to use it for the rest of your life. I literally thought I was going to die.

  • This substance helped curb my drinking problem dramatically, the damage that alcohol does to your mind, body and life in general is astronomical compared to any side effect or rare bad reaction to kratom. These “addiction” specialists should focus their attention on the drugs that are legal/prescribed and actively killing thousands every year.

  • 3:10 15 “died from kratom”(all of which had other substances in their body)… meanwhile More than 17,000 people died from an overdose of a prescription pain medication in 2017. The risk of overdose and death increases if you combine opioids with alcohol or other medications that also slow breathing, such as benzodiazepines (e.g. Xanax®).

  • Went from taking 3 percocets a day (30mg) total for a year completely addicted couldn’t stop from fear of getting sick then i saw chris bell doc ” A leaf of faith” and got introduced too kratom and it has completely changed my entire life it has helped me just as good if not better for my pain then the percs! And the withdrawals symptoms were very smooth with the help of kratom!

  • It sounds like Dr. Stork’s primary concern is the current unregulated nature of kratom, and I share Dr. Holcomb’s sentiment that no one is opposed to the proper regulations, but we should not endanger the lives of people who are currently being helped by this. Yes, kratom should be put through the rigorous testing that other supplements go through and regulated. Despite Mr. Fabricant’s little stunt with the sugar alternative packets, the kratom community is not entirely opposed to that. What we are opposed to, and what Mr. Fabricant is proposing is an outright ban on kratom. Mr. Fabricant recently told the DEA in a formal letter, “NPA views DEA’s consideration to classify kratom a Schedule I drug as a necessary and welcome first step; however, unless it is followed with real enforcement and penalties for those who are selling it in coffee bars, on the internet, and elsewhere, it will be another unenforced measure on the books.” That is strong language about a plant that has zero recorded deaths attributed to it alone in the United States. I question Mr. Fabricant’s motives and his credibility for taking such a hard stance against a natural product, the kind for which his own organization is tasked with advocating.

  • Maybe these Public Officials/Doctors should quit ignoring the vast majority of people and stop interrupting so they can listen. It seems every person in charge of overseeing regulatory framework has 1 ear and 5 mouths. These are the officials that need to go. You can disagree and still make good regulatory decisions that benefit everyone.

  • I’m open to being studied….40yrs of Rx meds some of these meds almost killed me. I have been on kratom just over a year. moringa and shilagit. also I use the cbd products. I have not felt this healthy in 40 yrs. I was put on methadone for chronic pain, I will never ever take that again. one quarter more of one I was told I would not be here today.. but, just before that diagnosis I was accused of taking meth and extasy and trying to commit sucide. I was not! I was fighting cancer. I’ve known too many people that have died from prescribed Rx meds. some were from methadone. I’ve never seen or lost anyone to kratom.. I blame Rx meds for 40 yrs of chronic illnesses and surgeries… my life seems back to normal with kratom and the other products. I’m not having to take pain meds stomach meds heart meds blood pressure.. and the list goes on. I’ve had so many surgeries,, exploritory surgery, tubes tied, before I was 18. tonsils out, teeth out and never replaced. my grand kids have never seen me with teeth. my oldest is 18. so many biopsys so many cancers. last surgeries were an oblation for Wolfs Parkinson’s White’s syndrome. then open heart valve replacement, in 2015. I was not getting better, the Dr was finished with me and pain meds. my sternum wasn’t healing proper. and instead of getting it fixed, they scared me with thoughts of cancer in my lungs.. I had gone cold turkey off of meds so many times in the past. ( most Drs. telling me they wouldn’t do that). that alone makes you feel like you could die.

  • Honestly as a Kratom user on and off. I do have good results if used as needed and managed with 100% complete responsibility. If abused kratom can cause problems. Not just only mentally but what worried me even more was the gastro side affects that I endured were almost fatal. Honestly speaking, I know for a fact and have proof of what kratom can do to the stomach and the intestines. I have many save medical files showing several trips to the hospital from internal issues, including peptic ulcers, hitial hernia, even coughing up black colored blood confirmed by the hospital. I’m more concerned on the health issues rather then the addictive part because honestly it’s not bad coming off of. You might feel a little tired but no more than 3 to 4 days and your fine. Also kratom In my experience raised cortisol levels while on it. I have medical records that back that up as well. I’m actually shocked that no one speaks about the health issues it causes. Definitely hard on the adrenal glands as well. Just being honest.

  • Of course “Doctors will bash Kratom. It’s not FDA approved. Which means, it’s not harmful and or tainted by BIG PHARMA. Kratom is amazing. It’s helped me tremendously. I can’t afford it and stuck taking prescriptions given to me. By you guessed it! BIG PHARMA DOCTORS. Which is killing me slowly and painfully. People please take the time to do the research and homework on Kratom. It’s way better than the crap they try to forcefully pump into us to keep us sick and make even more money. Let’s face it, a healthy person= no more income for doctors and big pharma. Just freaking saying!

  • It’s in the name. Fabricant fabricates. He’s an absolute liar spreading disinformation about a natural substance his organization (Natural Products Association) is supposed to fight for. Kratom does not cause psychosis or hallucinations. It is much safer than most pharmaceuticals. The LD50 is such that it would be impossible for a human to ingest the amount required to overdose. It has been shown to have minimal to no respiratory depression, and taking it in higher doses produces undesirable effects like nausea with minute levels of the euphoria associated with opiates and synthetic opiods, meaning it has far less abuse potential than those substances. Using non-truths as an argument is fallacy, even Fabricant should understand that. It seems that he is more interested in defending the special interests of his pharmaceutical and chemical partners (Bayer, Dupont etc.) than remaining unbiased and truthful for the sake of liberty and public health.

  • I take extracts regularly, spending on average 40-50$ a week on products, and I can say I have extensive experience with these products. I take it for anxiety and depression, and also sustained energy. Honestly, as long as you don’t take it MULTIPLE times a day, you’ll do well to keep your tolerance down and it won’t build up in your system quite as quickly. I also don’t need it every day. Every other day, or up to 5 times a week is enough. It does so much more for me than any of those shitty, addictive DRUGS! I’m happier than ever! That said, studies do need to be made so we can see what the negatives are like for a spectrum of users. Like appetite suppression, or when you’re coming down from it, exhaustion and a withdrawal like moodiness. This stuff isn’t addictive when taken properly, but I’ve heard some people describe it as “not feeling like themselves” when they haven’t taken it in awhile. For me personally, the worst it made me feel in that regard was akin to the crash you get after having an energy drink. It’s not withdrawal as much as it is a hard comedown. But if you time your doses properly you can time it so your crash is at the end of the day. I like to take my Kratom a couple hours into my shifts at work and usually it’s out of my system by the time I get off and am ready to relax. I DONT like to take it if I’m not being physically active however, because there is a bit of a high that comes with it, and unless I’m giving it an outlet by moving around, I personally feel like the high is too much.

  • Kratom has saved my life. I have Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). And I’m only able to sleep for 2-3 hours a day because of this and was on a spiral. I can hardly focus at work due to lack of sleep and was already hopeless. I’ve tried a lot of sleep aids and home remedies and even sleeping pills but non worked, until I came across kratom. It gave me my life back and I’m saddened by these people in the show who are against it. I pray to God that you don’t experience the sufferings we’ve had, but if you do, you’ll probably know where we are coming from because obviously you don’t know what you are talking about. You don’t have to wait for a loved one to suffer before you open your eyes to its benefits. We are real people benefitting from it. Don’t kill us.

  • Kratom got me away from pharmaceuticals- co-codamol, tramadol and gabapentin which are all drugs that have serious side effects. Its an amazing plant that has so much potential. But I will say the withdrawal from long term kratom use is pretty intense. I’m in the UK and getting hold of this stuff without paying ridiculous prices usually means importing from Indonesia and other contries. With that there’s probably legal issues, but more concerning for me is not knowing the conditions in which the plant gets processed. The questions that come to mind are things like, do they use chemical fertilisers and pesticides? Whats the conditions in which its dried and ground down? How longs has it been stored? Do some dealers bulk it out with other powders? From my experience as a consumer, kratom got me away from drugs that do real harm which id still be taking now otherwise. No regrets. Yet if there is a way to verify its grown and processed in a way that makes it safe for consumption without a crazy price tag id appreciate that! Also I feel like people need to be made aware of the fact its physically addicitive when buying kratom. Weening off it sucks tbh but well worth it in most cases.

  • The reason that there is no suggested dosage is because the FDA refuses to conduct proper testing to determine how much and how often someone should use this. Kratom has been used in Thailand for centuries. Calling a substance “illegal” in order to disparage it is quite childish. There are plenty of useless and sometimes harmful products sold in drug stores. By the was Kratom is legal in many states.

  • I’ve used Kratom. It made me more alert in a way like, you got a good night’s sleep, then had a cup of coffee. I was in a better mood and more productive. At no time did I feel high. I also have only used it a few times in several years, I never felt it was addictive. I never felt any urge to have it. All the supposed dangers of Kratom, as well as its effects, are incredibly overstated. It really has no more effect than that of an espresso, a Tylenol, and a good sleep.

  • I took 18 grams of Kratom over 7-10 days as a workout supplement. I decided to quit after finishing the small package I bought and have been experiencing crazy withdrawals for 7 days now. I haven’t sleep more than 3 hours and I have the craziest anxiety that comes and goes. I wake up in a panic. It’s absolutely awful and wish I never tried it. The package said organic and sustainable. The people promoting it say it’s no more harmful than coffee. It’s not worth the risk. I hope I can get back to normal soon.

  • I have been a strong supporter of Kratom and have taken it for chronic pain for 3 years. I have lost almost all my hair and my health has gone downhill a lot. I’m coming off Kratom currently, and it is similar to coming off prescription painkillers. Not as bad though. My doctor is helping me come off Kratom. I should get my hair back after awhile. It helped my pain a lot, but the truth is we really don’t know what it might do long term.

  • I’m a little late to this discussion. But I can see merit on both sides here. I think it does need to be regulated a little more. There is drawbacks, but some REAL good can come from this plant. I’m an avid believer in plant medicine. Whether it be cannabis, kratom, kava, or so many other plants and plant based substances. But the wide open, unregulated market let’s these companies sell anything they want. I want these products tested for quality and safety. More research on strains and there overall effects. I dont want it scheduled on the controlled substances act tho. The fda and dea can stay the hell out of it.

  • I’ve read before ” the public cannot self-medicate itself, therefore you must see a doctor for guidance for your body or mental issues.” I believe we have the power to self medicate but these types of people are trying to take all the power we have, all the beauty of being human and give your power to someone or something else therefore we lose everything about being human and bring connected to the source within.!! Boooo..book. I don’t like that idea keepkratomlegal!!!!I love kratom. I’ll fight with my KRATOM Fam!!!

  • I’ve been drinking Kratom for almost 10 years – it’s gotten me off alcohol and I love it. No hangovers. Makes work a little more pleasant lol and over all the kava bars are a lot more of an inviting atmosphere. Definitely more relaxed and chill than regular bars. If your state has them – try a kava bar !

  • I did meet a guy man who was hooked on pain pills but used kratom to help with his chronic pain from a car accident. He went into permanent psychosis to the point he could no longer concentrate and could gather coherent thoughts. He quite literally lost his mind to this stuff. He took it every morning and day. I was a nurse at a psychiatric hospital

  • Yeah u have drugs that are addictive and don’t make the patient realize how much pain they actually were in…then doctors are power trippers who prescribe pain meds no issue then all of the sudden cut the patient off and send them into horrific drug withdrawals and deny helping them to withdraw more comfortably. So then they go to the streets to find relief and get on far worse drugs but wait kratom is legal? Since kratom I didn’t know how much pain I was actually in…i have fibromyalgia and had l5s1 fusion surgery my doctor refused to refill my Norco 5 so I was left to fend for myself and I’m so thankful for that. As I said I didn’t know how much pain I was in until I took kratom. Of course finding the right strain is the trick and researching what to do and not do and educate yourself before taking it. I’m all for regulation but you won’t allow them to put on the packaging dosing directions so that was actually fda way of making it unsafe so they could ban it cuz it’s natural plant that does what their pharmaceutical money making industry claims to do and that is walking on a slippery slope because marijuana is also a great option for patients like me but it’s illegal and I hope kratom stays legal cuz I seriously don’t know what I would do without it besides lay in bed crying in agony wanting to die. Thank you kratom for giving me my life back more better than pharmaceuticals ever did!

  • So I jumped back to this to just see what all is changed in the creative world. After taking it for about a year, it has helped me so much with my post, traumatic stress, depression, pain. I will say that there does need to be more research because it is habit forming, it doesn’t really give you a high, but it definitely helps ease my pain and depression. I take it for days and then I rest for six. If you want some good data, go to Joeytalks on YouTube. Good luck, and if you do take create them for medical purposes, remember to take breaks, or you will build up a tolerance.

  • Kratom literally helped me get control of my impulses when it comes to substances. It has a plateau effect. Around 3 grams you feel energy around six you get sedation and pain relief. Anything more you you will get nausea and ultimately build a tolerance making kratom useless. The key is to keep your doses as low as possible and when it feels like it’s not working you take a few days break. Theirs no other substance like it and it’s incredible 🍃

  • I have been off heroin for about 10 years now. Kratom helped me a lot and I have even stopped kratom usage and have taken breaks months at a time. I was completely free of everything for 2 years except for caffeine and nicotine. All I see is a room with many individuals who receive money from pharmaceutical companies and who also probably received kickbacks to market the jab.

  • On end of the day the FDA is not here to help American people ( unfortunately), it’s just about the money and not about if it helps people or not ! Unfortunately USA has the worst Healthcare for the normal citizens that’s why we have to look and find help our self as a Kratom ( and other natural remedies).

  • The title of the segment being “Safe Supplement or Dangerous Drug” is the reason we still arent ready to have this conversation 7 years later. They say “well if its so great then you should be fine with us running tests,” but the second those tests reflect that Kratom is far safer for treating chronic pain than morphine and oxy, its Schedule 1. We can discuss kratom when the FDA is divorced from private industry.

  • I’ve taken off and on for years but noticed lately my blood pressure has been going up like crazy, don’t know if its the kratom, or the nicotine because I always vape. I don’t want to give it up but need to find out why my blood pressure has gone through the roof. That said I’ve tried everything for depression/anxiety and it seems out of everything Kratom has worked the best.

  • I’ve used kratom in the past for extended periods with virtually no issues. Maybe a little constipation, but not serious. If you take way to much you may throw up, that’s it. I didn’t need the government to tell me it was safe, and I didn’t need them to tell me their “recommended dosage” either. Much less whether I’m allowed to use it.

  • (Kratom has been an amazing thing for many people. I truly believe big pharma doesn’t want Kratom in the US because it would become a huge competitor against their opioid business). I have used Kratom for about 5 years now and it helps tremendously with depression, anxiety, even energy and mood boost. I do have a warning however; please don’t continue dosing into pregnancy! I learned the hard way and my second son was born very jittery and with NAS-like symptoms. I actually requested that he stay in the NICU for a little bit after birth and oh God the guilt I felt, I had no idea that Kratom could cause all that. The NICU staff knew I take Kratom yet they still reported me to CPS as if I had been an actual drug addicted neglectful mother. The woman from CPS visited my home and saw that I am actually great mother, have never used drugs and don’t even drink alcohol. Will never ever forget that experience though and I’d like the mom’s out there to know that!

  • A guy I was seeing told me Kratum was a health drink and it was all natural basically a tea mix, saying it would relax me and he put like 4 tablespoons in a waterbottle and had me chug it. I had been seeing him so I didnt have a reason to not trust him. It ended up causing me to get super drowsy, shake, itch, get freezing, and get super nauseous. I later found out he was a currently using heroin addict.

  • “30 grams it says… and i don’t even know what that means.” “we don’t know how much that is” what…???? its 30 grams. wtf else could that possibly be or mean? i understand if he’s trying to say he doesn’t know how strong it is, considering how he followed it up with “no dosing”. but what a random way to say that lol.

  • Don’t let them lie to you! Been using Kratom for 10 years. Kicked 5 year addiction to opiates and SSRI’s. Worst thing can happen is nausea and dizzy headed. Eat something and it’s over. Start with small amounts 1-2-3 grams and slightly increase between dosages for desired effect. I’m 45, 5’8, about 150lbs 5-7 grams per dose for me. 2 to 3 times a day.

  • it has its medicinal uses but i wouldn’t advice letting children use it, of course different strains have different effects but red strains especially the most popular “maeng da” has opioid properties and can make you feel the way you’d feel on a medium low dose of hydrocodone, which in turn is helpful is circumstances but it can turn out to be its own addiction as well, would definitely be careful not to get yourself or anyone else into that rabbit hole, because it’s a bitch to get out of. this in disregard to other strains which can be additive in their own ways, not saying don’t use it for its benefit just saying be cautious

  • Kratom got me off my 20 year addiction to opioids and helped my crippling arthritis, I realise I’ve swapped one drug for another but there is no doubt that kratom is better for me then the real opioids. On low doses it is a pretty safe drug but it can be a slippery slope so try to keep the dose low and find the strain most beneficial for you, do your homework before you decide to use it.

  • You know…i didn’t hear one of you talk about the prcie of health care in this country. This medicine is a godsend for CPTSD. When nothing else worked, or caused worse side effecta to struggle with, kratom treated both my body pain (which is more common than you think in trauma survivors) back pain (which is a severe symptom for childhood s*x abuse in the psychology handbook for mental disorders) depression, AND anxiety. The plant is closely related to the coffee plant, and has an energy boost, which keeps me from laying in bed all day. This plant has saved my life in ways you can begin to imagine.

  • I have had back pain for years and surgery for it. I am prescribed opiates and pregabalin. I also take Kratom and I can say that the Kratom helps more than the opiates. You have to be careful taking Kratom because you can become addicted to it just like opiates, since it works on the opiate receptors, and Kratom withdrawal is just like opiate withdrawal, which is awful.. As long as you get it from a reputable company, and watch your dosing, you a should be fine. With doctors afraid to treat pain, because of the supposed opioid crisis, Kratom is many times the only option for those suffering pain.

  • Kratom DOES work very well with helping me not go through withdrawals, I’m an opiate patient and I do not like the side affects of the Oxycodone that has been prescribed to me for the past 20years. I’m an older woman and I’m way to old to go through withdrawals and that’s where the Kratom comes in as a perfect substitute. My pain is under control on Kratom and no opiate side affects, I’m alert with energy to do what I have to get done. I was also prescribed Fentanyl for pain management, I stayed on it for about 3-4 years and thought if this is the best our medical care can do then the doctors need more education, big pharma DOES NOT want natural supplement alternatives even thought about because they will loose money, like the cigarette industry. Maybe instead of doctors whining we don’t know enough about a healthy alternative try learning about the healthier approach to give clients and patients a better choice in their life.

  • Kratom is an amazing tool for addiction but is a dangerous tightrope because it’s addictive itself and becomes a substitute. Personally I think it should be regulated and used for rehabilitation purposes. With that said the doctors made the problem to begin with over prescribing opiates. United state is one of the few countries that don’t do psychological evaluations before writing scripts since opiates should rarely be used out patient except for the terminally ill. It’s pronounced effect on depression and anxiety make opiates and kratom both highly addictive to a vast majority of users with minimal usage. As a supplement it should be regulated like delta 9 THC and only sold through proper websites, not in convenient store, smoke shops or online to anyone with a credit card.

  • Alcohol almost killed me last year. Severe anemia, sepsis, pneomonia.. Ventilator/ coma, icu for a week outta the 16 days I spent there. I went 8 months after without a drop, then fell off for a bit. Small doses of top quality Kratom and marijuana has been my much better option keeping me off the booze. Not to mention the wild depression that came back once I started drinking again, seems like it’s better handled than popping mind altering pills. I go easy on the kratom because I am worried about the damage I def already done to my liver.. I am cautious because of how well this stuff works/ done a lot of research and am aware of the positives and negatives.. but I’m pretty sure it’s better than drinking a fifth of vodka a night doc.

  • This seems to be a poorly chaired debate when the woman isn’t allowed to speak and the guy continually talks over the top of her. I don’t know that much about the subject and I am not taking sides as such, but just because her opinion might not be popular it doesn’t mean she isn’t allowed to air it, especially if she has been invited onto the show to do so.

  • Kratom has some nasty side effects when taken in high doses (>20g/day) – my hair was falling out in large clumps after 2 months of using a large amount (multiple tablespoons ~ 40/50g / day). I reduced to 15g per day (5g per dose) and my hair stopped falling out and has grown back. It is an opioid but very weak – e.g I feel a much stronger opioid effect even from over-the-counter codeine.

  • Kratom allowed me to get off of prescription opioids. Prior back surgery. Fibromyalgia. Severe acid reflux pain. Kratom has saved my life and allowed me to work full time again. Prescription meds had me needing more and more to get the same relief, and I was in a brain fog unable to work. So long as you take less than 25 grams per day, there is not a dependence issue. Alcohol is legal, can be addictive, must be used responsibly…

  • The big issue here is that, they want to make money off of it. It’s not regulated right now and accessible to anyone as a way cheaper alternative to opioids with as a proven pain relief alternative. The big issue here is that most people abuse the substance and suffer consequences. There’s no labels on liquor for dosage yet everyone knows to respect it. The same should be common sense for kratom. The minute this goes through the FDA it will be un accessible to regular Americans, and most likely banned.

  • Kratom definitely has it’s purposes, just not in my case. Even the most minuscule doses, make me terribly sick. If the benefits outweigh the risks for an individual, they should just use it. The doctors and the medical system couldn’t care less if you are sick, depressed, or in pain. They don’t want the liability of prescribing controlled substances so we all have to figure out things for ourselves, especially if we can’t afford healthcare.

  • I take kratom so I don’t have to take the doctors opiates for MS 2 capsules and a coffee in the morning has been a game changer for me to not feel like ive been hit by a truck and I’m able to get my daily stuff done Less is more with kratom . I’ve taken 2 capsules a day for 2 years without gaining a tolerence

  • It’s great to have well done studies, but who’s going to pay for it? The pharmaceutical companies appear to fund most of the studies in the USA and they don’t have much motivation to do studies on drugs or dietary supplements they can’t patent. It could even be argued they have motivation not to because it may take business away from a patented drug or a potential market in the future.

  • This article was released Dec 2016, it is now Aug 2022, I found out about Kratom 8 months ago. Have been taking Rx (Ultram), morphine (60mg), an absolute myriad of OTC topicals, patches, ice, heat for my pain since 1992 and have lived – and worked – in pain all these years. I was sent to a pain management clinic about a year ago where they wanted to insert electrodes in my spinal column,, to that I said ABSOLUTELY NOT! I started taking Kratom 6 months ago, started with 2mg and have settled in on 5mg power dissolved in warm OJ once a day. From my first intake of Kratom I saw a marked impact on my pain. That first day IMHO I was at a level 8 pain, almost in tears and for an old man of 75, being in so much pain I felt like crying was just not right. Not in this day and age. Taking Kratom at this dosage has my pain under control, NO, my pain is not gone but it’s at what I believe to be a level 2 to 3 which for me is something I can live with. I 100% agree with the 40 or 50 posts I have read in response this article. BIG pharma want their cut, states want their cut, Kratom has been on the floor of Congress in an attempt to get it banned or at minimum totally under the control of the FDA. So far they have been unsuccessful in getting Kratom banned (THANK GOD!!) and so far Kratom is available to us. Now I will say, people who have not found a reputable vendor should do their due diligence, research sellers because thee are ‘some’ who cut their product or otherwise tamper with the quality.
