What do Loomis enzymes do?

Enzyme therapy helps with digestion problems which can result from eating our modern diet with many processed and preserved foods. The problem is that processed foods lack the digestive enzymes inherent in raw foods due to preservation. The act of preserving food (heating above 120 degrees F) for longer shelf life, while necessary for our modern way of life, destroys these enzymes.

Provided that we chew our food well enough, the digestive enzymes in raw food begin to break down what we have eaten into smaller units for absorption in the intestines before our digestive process in the stomach even begins to work. It takes about an hour for our stomach lining to secrete enough hydrochloric acid to get the acidity level low enough for the protein digesting enzymes (proteases) secreted by the stomach to work. During this time the enzymes in raw foods, activated by chewing, would normally assist in digesting what we have eaten.

When the enzymes are taken out of the picture by preserving for shelf life purposes, this “pre-digestion” does not occur and the stomach, pancreas and small intestine are required to do the whole job. Supplementing the diet with plant digestive enzymes, which work in a wider acidity range than our stomach, helps to “pre-digest” food.

Who should avoid digestive enzymes?

If you have a history of liver or gallbladder disease, or stomach ulcers, then you definitely want to consult a physician before taking digestive enzyme supplements.

Digestive enzymes generally don’t pose the risk for severe interactions with other drugs. However, some interactions of digestive enzymes may be possible, including with the drugs Warfarin, miglitol and acarbose.

Warfarin is an anticoagulant drug that inhibits the clotting of blood/the formation of blood clots. Acarbose (Precose) and miglitol (Glyset) are alpha-glucosidase inhibitors (oral anti-diabetes medications). It’s possible that taking these drugs with digestive enzymes may reduce the activity of the medications or enzymes.

In most cases, digestive enzymes do not interact with antibiotics, so both can be taken if necessary.

What is the Loomis method used for?

The Loomis Method helps artists to recreate the human head in their drawing by forcing us to think of the underlying structure of the head and is an excellent way of determining where to place the different features of the face in a portrait.

Here is a step-by-step tutorial for drawing the Loomis Head.

To begin with the Loomis Method, we draw a ball to represent the mass of the cranium (the upper part of the skull surrounding the brain that does not include the bones of the jaws).

If you observe your face in the mirror, you’ll notice that the front planes of the face merge into the flat side planes of the head around the temples. We flatten the sides of the cranium ball drawn in Step 1 to show these flat circular side planes of the head.

Do digestive enzymes really work?

Do digestive enzymes really work?

A. Digestive enzyme supplements purportedly fix all sorts of abdominal symptoms, including bloating, gas, and bowel irregularity, as well as overall gut health. However, for most people, there’s little evidence that they do any good.

Naturally occurring digestive enzymes help break down food so the body can soak up nutrients. Your mouth, stomach, and small intestine make some digestive enzymes. Still, most come from your pancreas, which floods the small intestine with enzymes when the food arrives there.

The main pancreatic enzymes are lipase, which breaks down fats; amylase, which breaks down carbohydrates; and proteases and peptidases, which break down proteins.

Is it OK to take enzymes everyday?

Is it OK to take enzymes everyday?

Basically, while they can be a smart addition to your meals, digestive enzymes aren’t meant to be a permanent part of your routine; once your body has recovered and your gut is able to produce a healthier number of enzymes naturally, you can start to take less.

Listen to your body (and talk to your doctor) to figure out what’s right for you.

And the next time you enjoy a meal, be thankful for those little protein strands — even if they are hard to pronounce.

  • I have watched so many of Dr. Rogers articles both on Chef AJ’s website as well as on that produced by the doctor himself. One immediately recognizes that one watches a genius who has sythesized so much knowledge that explains the “why” as well as the “what” of a plant based way of eating. Amazing. Transfixing. Deep. The complex systems that he explains from a scientific and even at times a theological and artistic standpoint offer insights of great value. The more I see of Dr. Rogers, the more I hope to see him again and again.

  • What an amazing presentation by doctor Rogers, I was transfixed by his lecture and just could not turn it off! I felt like I just attended a 2 hour University lecture on why the strict vegan lifestyle is the key to optimum health. I think this talk today has got to be one of the most impactful that Chef AJ has ever had on her show and I have watched almost all of her shows. Dr. Rogers not only tells the truth about why poor diets cause disease he explains why. He points out that despite all this knowledge still so many people refuse to change their ways which I have experienced in my own life. Dr. Rogers should be a national celebrity and be on all the shows so people can hear the truth. Now I have to look at my flax and chia in a whole new way! Thank you Chef AJ

  • I watched his first guest spot here for the fourth time. Very motivational for keeping on track. Towards the end he saids something most people do not realize – your entire body is sick, when things go downhill, starting at the cellular level. I likes that. BTW – I just saw he is on rumble. I come to YouTube to read comments.

  • Wow, this was probably my favorite interview of yours to date, and they have all been excellent. I was just about to embark on the “Portfolio” diet to lower my cholesterol and, given that it requires one to eat 50 grams of nuts a day, I think I dodged a bullet! God put me in touch with your website for a very good reason! Thank you!!!

  • I enjoy listening to the very nuanced and super well studied information that we get when dr Peter Rogers gives his passionate lectures – and it has helped me to take the decision that I will change to a simple Spartan diet – and the last month I have eaten more vegetables than I have done my entire life and no Oil and even cooked my lentils without salt – and it tastes Great – but most of the people I know Think it is too radical – but I love to have high Energy – and I passed 80 this january 🌷♥️😺😄

  • Watching this for a second time to take notes for all the references. Wish we could get a copy or link to his slides:) This guy is great- and being from the Chicago area, gotta say I love his accent lol. While it is true that many or most people don’t want to change, there are many like me who are hungry for this info. Getting the knowledge and putting it into practice are like a grand adventure. Some of us want to climb the mountain.

  • Hello Chef AJ and ty for the article. I found Peter Rogers as a recommendation from the Youtube algorithm, on the main page and I was so happy!!! Then I saw he was on your show so that lends even more credibility to him. There’s always somebody we don’t know about, up and coming plant based doctors. 🙂

  • This guy is absolutely brilliant over my head a little bit sometimes but getting hit with enough clue by force that shits going to happen right. That being said I love his rewrite of Psalms and it is definitely less paraphrased and rewritten than some of the passages I have heard preachers on the pulpit say. Lol

  • What little I have learned about Rogers led me to his excellent opinion (which happens to match mine) that there’s a diet / blood oxygen and circulatory system cause of dementia. Of course, I want to believe we can do something through diet to solve the issue. The studies related to diet and dementia rarely include a large number of individuals on a strict whole food-plant based diet. My hypothesis is that if there were, it would show extremely beneficial results as are seen with the Ornish study and Esselstyn’s studies and miracle diet related specifically to heart health. The dementia comes on more slowly than heart attacks, and a diet may be required for a longer period, in longer studies, to show benefit.

  • Wow! As others have said, this man is a wealth of information. I will listen again and take notes. Please have him back to answer questions. The thing that is challenging for me is in the small areas where the different experts disagree. They all agree about the major things, namely a whole food plant based diet, no oil.etc. But they disagree about things like Vitamin D supplements when you cannot get sun, and how big a dose of supplement if any you should take, or flax and chia for omega 3, especially to remedy the lifelong imbalance of omega 6 and omega 3 that most of us had before changing our diets, should we strive to eat greens and cruciferous veggies raw rather than cooked? Looking forward to more with this guest in future episodes.

  • He’s explaining everything that all drs are leaving out the knowledge were all missing dr Rogers just slammed dunked all the whole plant based community to realize go big or go home! This what the medical community is leaving out explanations!!! Ty chef Aj and dr Rogers needs a seat at the next hyppocritates meeting next to dr esselstyn! Dr Barnard physician committee and many more platforms we need Answers and we need like Yesterdays! Cut through the senorship open doors Roll the red carpet out for this new YouTube Pioneer over and Out!

  • Rewatching this talk today. I think we really benefit most from his experience seeing all these scans of very sick people. He’s basically Goldhammer/McDougall/Essylstein/Furman etc. This audience has heard the recommendation before if they’ve heard John McDougall, Goldhammer, or Dr Klaper talk. We are getting more of the chemistry 🧪 of why to eat this way. But imo we don’t need to know this chemistry. We just need to know what to eat for optimal health. 🍠🍠🥔🍠🥔🍠🥔🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🫘🫘🫘🫘🫘🫘🍠🍠🍠🥔🍠🍠🥔
