Why does beef jerky upset my stomach?
Is Beef Jerky Hard to Digest?. Yes, beef jerky can be difficult for the human body to digest. Compared to other types of protein, the protein in meat (particularly red meat) is more difficult for the intestinal tract to break down. This strain can result in bloating.
In large quantities, meats and other fatty foods slow how quickly your stomach empties (thus the bloating and discomfort). If meat takes a really long time to digest and pass through the intestines, toxins can build up in the body.
On average, your body needs 12 to 48 hours to completely digest most meats.
Can a 2 year old eat a Slim Jim?
I know. Most of you just checked out. But stay with me for a minute. Celery and Slim Jims belong to a group of foods called munchables. Munchables are types of foods that can be gnawed on for almost ever and really only give off residual taste, and tiny bits of food that any baby can swallow. Munchables should actually be introduced at the same time as purees. Celery and Slim Jims are stick shaped foods that fit right back on those molars (or as I like to call them, crunchers) and teach those little mouths to munch. What else? It decreases the gag reflex while also introducing new flavors kiddos aren’t getting from baby food. Make sure to use a whole piece of celery and a long Slim Jim (or any meat stick if your kids aren’t too picky about their meat brands). Giving them one that is only a few inches long is choking hazard, so don’t do it.
You have an older kid who won’t eat anything? Celery and Slim Jims work for that too. They don’t need to eat it, just let them gnaw away. It’s good for sensory, strength, and just plain tolerating new foods.
I could go on and on about the benefits of munchables, but that would make me a dork. And also, the little man sitting in his high chair next to me has thrown his celery stick across the room. So I gotta go.

Are Slim Jims an American thing?
Slim Jim is an American meat snack brand sold globally and manufactured by Conagra Brands. Slim Jim snacks are widely available and popular in the United States, generating $575 million in revenue in 2015. About 1 billion Slim Jim snacks are produced annually in at least 21 varieties.
Al Levis and his partner Joseph Cherry invented the first Slim Jim in 1929 in Philadelphia. In the 1940s they hired a meatpacker to develop the product for production. In 1967 he sold the company for about $20 million to General Mills, which moved the operations to Raleigh, North Carolina, and merged them into the meatpacking operations of their recently acquired Jesse Jones Sausage Co. to create Goodmark Foods. Ron Doggett moved to Raleigh in 1969 as he was named corporate controller of the newly formed entity, and was later the company’s Vice President of Finance. In 1982, General Mills put the company up for sale, and Doggett and three other GoodMark executives acquired the company; Doggett assumed the offices of president and chief operating officer. Conagra bought Goodmark in 1998. Until 2009, the former Jones Sausage plant in Garner, North Carolina was the only facility in the world which produced Slim Jims.
The product Levis created is different from the one produced since the 1990s, with Lon Adams (1925–2020) developing the current Slim Jim recipe while working for Goodmark.

📹 Racist Commercial
Racist commercial from the movie Confederate States of America.
chorus: Oh, I wish I was in Dixie, Hooray! Hooray! In Dixie land I’ll take my stand To live and die in Dixie Away, away, away down south in Dixie Away, away, away down south in Dixie verses: Oh, I wish I was in the land of cotton Old times there are not forgotten Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land In Dixie land where I was born in Early on one frosty mornin’ Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land Old Missus acted the foolish part And died for a man that broke her heart Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land
You guys completely missed the punchline. It’s in the timing – as the ad closes, the caption reads “Protecting a people….and their property” as the camera pans to the Latino garden boy. The implication is the garden boy is their property and glad to be, given his happy grin. It’s clever, cos there’s wiggle room in that the property could be referencing the hedges, the real estate…but it’s made just clear enough that it’s really talking about the garden boy. Marvelously done!
Actually, learning to ride a bike on the grass was fairly common 70 or 80 years ago. The idea was the grass provides a softer place to land when you’re first getting started; nearly everyone falls a few times. And once you can balance on grass, the road or sidewalk is even easier. Back in “the old days”, this was something called “wisdom”; sadly it seems mostly relegated to the past now.
For the uninitiated, this is from the movie CSA: Confederate States of America. It’s a mockumentary that gives an alternate view of modern times had the South won the Civil War. It was produced as an independent film and later picked up by Spike Lee. Some of the products in the fake commercials are real products from an unfortunate past. It’s actually pretty well done if you can find it to watch.
My mother was a white, British household attendant. She upheld her work and services well and was appreciated and admired by many. For the comments below on the maid’s color how strange it is for you not to admire her work and instead focus on her color?? This thinking is truly nuts and I am curious how you manage to think at all?
In the old days if a loving husband worked full time to provide for your family while a wife stayed at home and took care of the children and home it was considered a blessing and rest for the entire family. My husband and children and I still live in the ‘old days’ and we consider it to be the greatest source of happiness and enjoyment for our us and our children! 😀
This is a brilliant and diabolically clever mockumentary. Those who have seen it and payed attention to the story as it unfolded should know what I mean, Some very scary truths about our real history since the Civil War are shown as the film gets closer to the present day. I won’t give anything away. If you can get ahold of this somehow it’s really worth seeing.
As a black woman, and a child of the 90s, I don’t hold anything against the actors, however starring in a commercial like this does make me look at them sideways. But hey, there was a lot of things that the entertainment business had a lot of control over back then, that they could not get away with and approved in today’s decade. Also when it comes to letting the child ride a bike on the lawn, yeah it’s rude but also safer. You don’t have to agree with me lol
I’m Blacker than Black and I don’t see anything Racist about this article. But, I’ma tell you what’s Racist… The YouTube algorithm suggesting this article after I looked up Bingo Long and The Traveling All Stars, so I could watch one of James Earl Jones’ first movies! The YouTube Algorithm is Racist! 🙄✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
AS much as people want to believe slavery would still be around today if not for the Civil War, it simply isn’t true. With industrialization and modern farming techniques slavery would have been economically infeasible and probably would have ended about the same time slavery ended in Brazil in the 1880’s. The planter business model was economically untenable and almost all of the planters would have went bankrupt which would have ended slavery by the sheer fact that there were no more plantations to enslave people with..
